The past two days Endiku had been helping the overseer of the ditches. Well that was what he had named him anyway. They hadn't formally given names, though he had known Endiku's since he was completing the tasks as missions for the village. Ever since joining the village he had seen young genin plod around helping to fix up the village, doing small tasks that in the long run could have a large impact. An example was the salting of the paths, a labour intensive task but it reduced the casualties from slips and falls. He wished to be a part of the for quite a while, though nowhere near the level of his dream, he thought that these first few steps would be enjoyable and a good experience. So turning up to this mission excited him a little, his mini mission journey was almost complete with the three related missions. He already knew what to do, walking over to the carts and opened up the back to get to the bags.

The bags were heavy, he could still lift them but not easily. It took him a while to pull them over to the ditches he had helped dig two days prior. “The rest of the ditches were dug out yesterday, Not everyone can dig as fast as you.” He heard the overseer yell to him as he pulled the bag over to the trench. Considering it had taken him one day to do his trench, though most of it had been done in the last hour of that day, he was shocked at how long it had taken. Before he had used his chakra threads he had been working at a similar pace as the rest of the genin. He could have spent the whole of yesterday completing the digging of the trenches. Instead he had been very productive and loaded all of these bags of stone into the carts.

Taking a knife handed out by the overseer Endiku cut open the top of the bag with ease. He placed it into a mixer which was turning around. Next was coarse yellow sand and powdery cement, finally water was added, in small amounts at a time until the mixture was right. The overseer made sure that each one was up to the high standard he needed it to be, these ditches would be the foundations of much larger buildings for Kiri's expansion. As soon as it became the right consistency Endiku began to pour the mixture into the ditch, a greyish slop falling into the hole. It spread out evenly as a liquid would, it was even therapeutic for Endiku watching it pour in. However the mixture was not nearly enough to fill in everything. He had to run over to the cart and repeat the whole process again and make up another batch.

The ditches were all filled in, the concrete up to the brim, not a drop wasted. Kirigakure was going to be able to build strong and large buildings on top of that. Knowing this Endiku felt a sense of pride and accomplishment, his countries' village would be stronger in the future. Though he doubted that he'd get any gratitude from anyone but the overseer, people forget the little things over the huge accomplishments. There was one last thing to do before everyone could leave, they had to 'tamp' the concrete. This meant that they had to get a long flat object and repeatedly push up and down on the surface of the setting liquid until the stones had disappeared from the surface, leaving a smooth rectangle on the top. Not only would this improve the strength, the flat base was better as a foundation. So Endiku took to the task, making sure that the ditch looked smooth on top, he even went over and made other genin's work better. The day had progressed very quickly and the overseer thanked everyone for their hard work, Endiku left for home and a shower.
